I was offered a complimentary film viewing. All opinions are my own.
I have always heard of the Bridget Jones movies but I had never taken the time to seek them out to watch them. Thinking about this later, I realize the only Renee Zellweger movies I have seen are Chicago and Down With Love. If you are in the same boat, do not worry. The story Bridget Jones’s Baby does not hinge on the past stories of Bridget Jones’s Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
The movie begins as a reflective Bridget celebrates her birthday that day at home after the long day. Bridget is inspired to take on a Girl Power attitude as she works at her news station, attends a music festival, and some various family functions. In all of Bridget’s adventures, she come upon a cute American, Jack (Patrick Dempsey), and is also back in contact with her long-time on-and-off love, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). It is a true comedy of errors as Bridget, Jack, & Mark navigate the tricky situation that having two possible fathers brings.
Even though I have never been in this kind of situation, the movie hooked me in right away, since my own birthday is shortly up-coming. I know the heartache of having a “Mr. Darcy” and also the roller coaster ride that a new interest can take one on. All of us in the theater were always laughing and I do want to go back again to catch up a couple concepts I missed. I also am so curious now of the past Bridget adventures and her long story with Mark.
Bridget Jones’s Baby is in theaters now.
