I was very honored that Noodles & Company invited a few of us Detroiter bloggers to enjoy the new classics on the summer menu.
We started off with salad (Vera Cruz, of course. A now well-loved customer favorite), the Chicken Thai Soup, & some chicken pot stickers with a spiced soy sauce. I don’t remember really having the pot stickers before & I am sad I have missed out before now in all of my Noodles & Company visits. The spiced sauce is not hot, just a nice garlicky flavor that breaks up the traditional soy sauce & the plain flavor that pot stickers could normally be.
You can take the spice all across the Noodles menu this summer with their new Sriracha sauce & Smolder from Boulder spice mix. & if these spice you up too much, you can mix up some cooling flavors at the Coke Freestyle soda machine. My normal favorite mix is Peach Sprite, but this summer there are some Barq’s Cream Soda flavors…..I loved the Strawberry!
I am not a super-spicy girl so I skipped the Sriracha, but I did like the slight red pepper Cajun kick that the mix brought to the mac & cheese with meatballs. (BTW, this is a good replacement for my personally beloved Buffalo Mac & Cheese that was a limited edition this past winter).
Of course loved standby main dishes like pan noodles began to take our table stage, but this evening we celebrated the Noodles & Company fans that made their voice heard to bring the retired Pasta Fresca back as a permanent menu item.
This dish sounds so simple at first glance—
Penne with balsamic, olive oil and roasted garlic, red onion, tomato, spinach and parmesan
But it won’t take you long to fall in love with this vinegar-based light twist on a hearty dish that is also light & full of summer salad flavors. I understand why the fans voted so hard to bring it back! This would be great for a late summer lunch when you need more than a snack but less than a full meal.
I am so happy that Noodles & Company keeps expanding more & more so that we all have more healthy options as we are on the go. You can read their healthy beliefs here.
