I have been thinking a lot about how I want to do the blog in 2018. I do know for certain I want to do more & more personal posts…..that was always an ambition of mine for this website from the very beginning. My motto is all things “frugal fashion finances & fun.”
So this is the beginning of a tradition I want to work hard to maintain…..Fun Five (things) on Fridays. Things I did. Things I saw. Deals I got. OOTD. Anything for you.
So I hope you have some fun too! Here we go!
Saturday I took down my Christmas stuff at home. It was a little sad but really I was glad to get my apartment back in order & even cleaned a little more. I felt really inspired to do more purging & organizing & I got some good organizing item deals on Zulily (um yes finally multiple hooks for the back of my bathroom door!) & a couple Christmas 2018 gifts! Oh yes I will NOT panic in 2018 like I did here in 2017.
Sunday after church I went with my sister to Old Navy. I earned $25 in ON GCs during December by using my ON VISA credit card several times. A woman at my sister’s work has 2 kiddos & they had a house fire. We were able to get some frugal items to get them started on some warm clothes for this immediate winter time. This is the best part of couponing for me!
Also on Sunday I had a free $5 reward from Kohl’s. These free coupons are wonderful for Christmas shopping year round, to buy items to donate, or to buy items you need or even just want for yourself. It’s always kind of a game for me! How can I stretch my $5 the best?! How do you think I did?
A fun & frugal way for all of us to splurge on some fancy items. & after the negative temperatures we have had here in MI the last week, these slippers will be a big help to me.
I’m involved with committee at work & also a couple business networking groups. I had 2 meetings for those this week. My groups really bring a lot of fun & joy to me as an extrovert. Shy or quiet or outgoing or loud alike, I would encourage EVERYONE to find a group of people that you enjoy learning from.
Sometimes if you just think or wait the thing you want comes right on sale right into your lap. I’m not going to say too much in case either person reads this!
I have 2 birthday parties coming in March. I have a present for 1 (a pretty personal/significant/symbolic/specific gift at that) but not the 2nd one. & of course they are friends with each other too so I kinda want to get them a similar gift; I usually do most years anyway.
So this week I got an email that some of the items were on an end-of-season sale. & I found the perfect cutie frugal one for gift #2! It’s so cute & fits her personality just as much as that 1st personal/significant/symbolic/specific gift.
Speaking of this, I have been wanting a trunk for my bedroom for months. Something fancier to store some stuff in than an old cloth temporary closet thingy I have been using.
After months of 1/2 hearted browsing at Ikea, Facebook Marketplace, & this & that I finally ordered one from Kohl’s online. It was a pretty decent price & I had some Kohl’s cash I needed to use up anyway.
Trunk has arrived. It’s still in the box.
Not that I don’t like the trunk! I just stew over it now. Do I REALLY need it this badly to spend $___? If I move later this year (?!?!) will I still want the trunk at my new place? Can I make it with the pseudo-closet?
It might just go back to Kohl’s this weekend…………………….
I’ll keep you posted next week. Or maybe you can give me some advice.
