I have been thinking a lot about how I want to do the blog in 2018. I do know for certain I want to do more & more personal posts…..that was always an ambition of mine for this website from the very beginning. My motto is all things “Frugal/Fashion/Finances/Fun.”
So this is the beginning of a tradition I want to work hard to maintain…..Fun Five (things) on Fridays. Things I did. Things I saw. Deals I got. OOTD. Anything for you.
So I hope you have some fun too! Here we go!
Sunday I went to the small mall near my house. It was a nice change of pace to just stroll around without much agenda like a teenager again. I only paid $3.39 for this whole pile–not too bad huh? I am excited to squirrel the game toys away for Christmas 2018 gifts & also grab a couple treats @ Ulta that I am normally much too frugal to splurge on. I actually used to have a solid sugar scrub from Lush that I used up & have been wanting another.
Tuesday night I had a fun evening @ Vinotecca in Birmingham to celebrate their new opening, which officially is TOMORROW! Article is coming soon, but I really was so glad to see Elizabeth from Detroit Duchess, Becky from Week 99er, Billie from Life Outside the Lab, Farrah from London Had a Little Lamb, & Betsy from The Everyday Warrior. Here’s a couple pics from the fun spirit there!
Wednesday I finally was able to visit Spoon’s Place here in Canton since a local (i.e. non-chain) restaurant has taken over the old Max & Erma’s building after their sudden departure some time ago. I met with my business networking friends for our Christmas party (finally)! I’m still new to the group so it was great to see everyone just having fun & meeting their SO’s. I had a great burger w/ spiced fries & of course a Moscato. I don’t have any pictures because I packed a small purse to take with me, then grabbed my big regular work purse! & I didn’t realize I even did it until I parked my car in the parking lot! haha!
Speaking of Canton, there have been 2 bank robberies within the past week, 1 of which occurring at a sister branch of the bank that I work for. I heard of this one #2 while I was sitting & scrolling this afternoon & the news was just on in the background.
I am heartbroken for my colleagues & also our banking brothers & sisters at the other bank. I dread the thought of a robbery ever possibly coming to me.
#FBF This photo is me (on the left) w/ my HS best friend Cheryl on September 30, 2001. We were seniors in HS & this was taken at her house during the weekend of her 17th birthday. 1 of the few & best pictures of us.
Anyway, our days after HS is all is a long story, but today is the 10 year anniversary of her passing away.
We all have these few moments in our lives that we point to. Her death certainly is top of my list.
I have thought of this day; I knew it would come. Yet I don’t really know how I feel about it. I feel like it should be more monumental than I feel right now.
But I wonder that it doesn’t because I have seen & lived life stories written in this time. I have been living this day for 10 years. Everyday. My life story certainly has taken a significant turn. Everything I do is based on this event.
Well see how I feel later on. Hug your special friends tight today. Make an impact in what you do today. Extend a hand of kindness. Do it for Cheryl & not just for my own sake.
