I have been thinking a lot about how I want to do the blog in 2018. I do know for certain I want to do more & more personal posts…..that was always an ambition of mine for this website from the very beginning. My motto is all things “frugal fashion finances & fun.”
So this is the beginning of a tradition I want to work hard to maintain…..Fun Five (things) on Fridays. Things I did. Things I saw. Deals I got. OOTD. Anything for you.
So I hope you have some fun too! Here we go!
Friday last week I (finally) used a Groupon I bought a few months ago for 526 Main/Tequila Blue in Royal Oak. 1 of my 1st dates w/ Red Wing was @ Duel Novi & I also have visited 526 for my friend’s bachellorette party about a year ago. When I saw it on Groupon I had to get 1 but Red Wing has been working so much overtime lately we just didn’t get it squeezed in until it ALMOST expired. I loved my tacos & Reisling. Even though it was so cold & rainy in town it was nice to just get out on the town (y’all even though RO is so close I very rarely go!).
Bright & early Saturday morning I walked (errr….I attempted to walk) the AAA Race For Life.
The AAA Pregnancy Resource Center (AAAPRC) exists to offer care and support to those who are facing an unplanned pregnancy and to those who are sexually active outside of marriage. We are a Christian organization with trained client associates who provide free pregnancy tests, confidential peer counseling, referrals, material goods and post-abortion counseling.
I had fun w/ some people from church & of course walking for a good reason. It was pretty cold though & unfortunately we got cut short in 2 ways. Hines Park roadways were pretty flooded & then it started lightning so we had to stop. We got about 1.5 miles in.
I walked this race because I really signed up late so I didn’t have time to prep (I signed up on Monday for the Saturday race). But someday I wanna run a 5k.
From a recommendation from 1 of my customers at the bank, I went w/ my sister & Red Wing to see On Your Feet at the Fisher Theater in Detroit. I had never been inside the building before (despite that I used to work in D & used to park SUPER close to that building every day) so I had fun exploring the shops a little bit too.
OK I am a HUGE Gloria Estefan fan! The story is cute about her family & growing up, how she & Emelio met & worked to get their big break, & culminates with her tour bus accident & triumphant return to the stage at the 1990 American Music Awards. There’s (of course) her music all throughout & celebration at the end of the play. I also really liked the fast pace that musicals now really have taken to. WOW I just really loved the show.
Here’s some OOTD fashion of me & my sister at the play (it was such a cold rainy weekend! See a common thread here!)
My OOTD: Jacket–LuLaRoe “Harvey”, pants (clearance!) from Wal-Mart, riding boots from JC Penney, black t-shirt (my beloved staples) “Perfect Fit” from Old Navy, necklace from Charming Charlie.
This week I was able to join a blogger conference call with Sarah Gilman who plays Velma in the newest Scooby Doo prequel adventure movie, “Daphne & Velma”. I had a lot of fun seeing her new-star personality & down to earth spirit.
Daphne and Velma will be available on Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD May 22, 2018.
Ridge Valley High is an innovative center of learning for some of the brightest minds in the nation, including both Daphne Blake (Jeffery) and Velma Dinkley (Gilman). Together, the best friends discover a number of questionable disappearances on campus as kids who were once full of life appear to become “zombified.” The mystery brings Daphne and Velma together to see if they can solve the case.
Look out for an article coming soon, but in the meantime, you can check out the trailer here.
